Two Handbags are Better than One

Two handbags are better than one, or so they say.  And who says this?  Well, we do, your professional handbag team at Clutch NY.  We have been taking careful notes on what we see trending on the streets and subways in New York City, and what we see is a woman in defiant demand of two handbags a day. Nelson Mandela Freedom

Nelson Mandela Freedom

                              Nelson Mandela Freedom

There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.  Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela freedom are two words that seem to be synonymous.  What more can I say?  They are actually not even two words anymore, but a way to describe a certain movement in freedom.   The world was a sad place last week when we lost a great icon.  As the press kept touting, South Africa is not sad that he has finally passed, as this was expected due to his illness, but sad that a legacy to this lifetime and world would now be gone for ever.  So what does this mean to the average person?  How does the Nelson Mandela freedom and his legacy affect our everyday lives? Clutch Bags Holiday Calendar

Tree Lighting Rockefeller Center

Tree Lighting Rockefeller Center

     Welcome to December everyone!

With Thanksgiving only a few days old, we are now into the month of merry.   In New York City, that means a busy calendar month of holiday activities and festivities.  Clutch Bags NY would like to share with you some of our favorite December activities in this fabulous city.
First up on the schedule is the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center.  This always comes up faster than you would think.  It happens this coming Wednesday, December 4th.  I have heard the 70-foot Norway spruce from Connecticut will have 45,000 LED lights.  The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. and the lighting takes place at 8:55 p.m.  So get your hot chocolate and head to midtown to check it out the lights. Lou Reed: A Clutch Bags New York Neighbor

Lou and Laurie Love

Lou and Laurie Love

As I was building my Clutch Bags business I first experienced Lou Reed on a very personal level, as you do most memorable moments  in NYC, when I least expected to.  It was about 10 years ago, and I was shooting in a photographer’s studio in Soho, when in walked this guy wearing a leather jacket to say hello to his good friend, the photographer I happen to be working with that day.  Continue reading

That Clutch Bags time of year…

Central Park during the Fall! So pretty!

Central Park during the Fall! So pretty!

It’s that time of year again and you either love it or you hate it. The start of September means a lot of different things for different people. It could be the inevitable end of a great Summer, the anticipated arrival of a calm Fall, or the stress or excitement of going back to school or work. Whatever it is, we’re all going through it and there’s no need to be glum about it!

Yup, the degrees are steadily decreasing and what was once a cool Summer breeze is starting to feel a little biting. But before we start muttering curses against Winter, let’s take some time to appreciate Fall: the season of cosy comforts and warm colors. Though the weather isn’t something to rejoice about, Autumn fashion sure is! Continue reading

Clutch Bags’~ LABOR of LOVE ~

Clutch Bags NY, my Labor of Love

Clutch Bags NY, my Labor of Love

Today, I have pondered the meaning of Labor Day and what the meaning of the day means to my company, Clutch Bags NY and to the prosperity of my country.

In the United States, Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a celebration of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.
This is the perfect day to take some time and think about your own contributions to the American work force in this country and what part you play in that force, be it worker or consumer. Continue reading

A Designer Day with Clutch Bags

What words come to find when you hear: Clutch Bags NY?

Classic? Classy! Chic!

Terrific? Timeless! Tasteful!

Effortless? Elegant! Essential!

For many months now I have been blogging for Clutchbags.com and I have had such a great time observing and reporting the new and happening things going on about town. Working with Clutch Bags NY has introduced me to a world of strong women who know what they want and know how to get it.

Though I have been able to interview, review, or research a number of smart and successful women and their accomplishments, I have always (secretly) been awaiting the day I could interview the woman who is Clutch Bags NY: Laura Dotolo. Continue reading

Clutch Bags: 5 Reasons Why NYC is Clutch

new-york-city-158New York City: the hub of hubs, the feeding ground of feeding grounds. Without a doubt, it’s the place to be. Clutch Bags NY designer, Laura Dotolo, picks up on the variety of personalities that the city has to offer and she draws inspiration from them to create a collection of handbags for women around the world. Because of NYC’s diverse population, it has become a city that caters to the wants and needs of many different traditions. The true beauty of New York, however, is how it peacefully houses different cultures and customs. Depending on the day of the week, there will definitely be something that will interest you–no matter who you are and where you are from. Continue reading

Summertime in NYC

It’s official: Summer is finally in bloom! But the temperature isn’t the only thing that’s up! For the passed week and a half I have found myself running around, all over NYC. Though my errands take me to different parts of the city, at different times of day, I have been noticing some consistent trends.

The  most consistent trend I have noticed is the use of the Scout Bag from Clutch Bags.  I have seen this spacious satchel on the shoulders of women uptown, downtown, east and west. Because this handbag seemed so popular on the streets of NYC, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So I decided to bring my Clutch Bags NY leather satchel along with me on one of my day of errands. I packed it with the usual suspects: IPod, keys, phone, and wallet. And I was off. Continue reading
