The Newest Edition to Clutch NY

The Belt Bag in leather is very hip!  And this is no exaggeration.  Please welcome the newest handbag edition to the Clutch Bags family.  It is the rebirth of the 1980’s fanny pak and it is hot!!!

When I was working on the design concepts for this belt bag in leather, I kept referencing the fanny pak of the 80’s.  Sure the fanny pak had its stigmas.  It was not always the cutest handbag on the market, but it was always the most purposeful one.  It is a strong design that has maintained its course throughout the trending decades, mostly living its moments in the sporting worlds of skiing and hiking, biking and traveling.  If you really think about it, it is a fantastic way to carry your belongings and not feel restricted.  It is also very unisexual.  Guys love this bag as much as women!

So, after I got over all the stigmas about this handbag, I decided to approach the concept in my usual Clutch NY way.  What sort of leather would I use to make this bag come to life?  I wanted the bag to have a sort of classic retro feeling, so I went for the Marlon Brando “On the Waterfront”, sort of vibe.  Piping was a must!  So were the nickel plated zippers.  What better skin to use for the body of the bag then perforated lambskin?  Perforation is such a fantastically fun trend for spring in accessories, and in lambskin, it just makes the body of the bag so much softer to the touch.

How does one actually wear this bag?  Does one need a full athletic wardrobe to pull it off?  Are you kidding?  This bag does exactly what the name says it does.  Wear this bag as a belt.  Yes, you got it.  Sling this bag around your waist and layer it over that “hi-lo” t-shirt you just bought.  Belt it a bit lower than your waist so that it sits low on the hips.  There you go!  It looks great with a dress, over sweaters and under jackets.
