                            Macy’s Day Parade
As the end of November approaches, so does that very palette pleasing last Thursday of the month we all know of as Thanksgiving. As it draws near, it is again time for us to reflect on the meaning of the holiday. At Clutch Bags NY we feel that gratitude, appreciation and thanks are in order as well.
When living in NYC, one can easily forget what there is to be thankful for. Let’s be honest here. As a New Yorker living in the city, the smelly streets, cramped subway cars, and overpriced apartments can become annoyingly overwhelming most of the time which can make it difficult to appreciate. The big city lights do not excite a New Yorker like they might excite the city’s tourists; which at times leaves the tourists standing still on a corner that happens to completely block your path. This over-populated, highly vibrant, and constantly moving city can feel like a big drag sometimes. However, we have to keep reminding ourselves why we live here by asking, “why is it that people want to visit THIS city?â€Â Continue reading

There are so few mentors we have in our lives, so the passing of one stirs your soul. Sometimes it is a heartfelt loss that brings you back to childhood memories.
I awoke this morning to an announcement that Lilly Pulitzer passed away during the night. My first thoughts were of her fabulous use of green and pink. My childhood memories of women by the summer shore sporting their full Lilly regalia of cotton print dresses and accessories to match dance in my head like an explosion of pixie sticks blowing in the wind. Lilly produced patterns on fabrics that served up eye candy on the sidewalks of the New England seashore towns that will forever inspire my creative sensibility.  I will forever be inspired by the palette of Lilly Pulitzer. Thank you, Lilly, for your creative influence on my handbag designs.

911 Tragedy remembered in Downtown Manhattan
I was in awe looking up at this light display erected near the site of the fallen towers. It brought me back to the day I witnessed the events first hand while working on set in downtown New York where I live. It was a somber day for us yesterday as we remember the many friends we lost on that tragic day. All of us who still live here in downtown have been impressed with the resilience of our fellow New Yorkers and particularly impressed with the reconstruction of our beloved neighborhood. It reminds me of the strength and fortitude of the American worker as I see what has been rebuilt on the former site of the fallen towers. I decided to start my handbag manufacturing company in the wake of this tragedy in 2001, determined that my handbags designs would always be manufactured here in New York City. I have succeeded in keeping that promised to myself even in the wake of a wave of cheap handbag manufacturing overseas. I still believe that Americans, given an informed choice of quality over cheap goods that don’t last, will choose made in America. My Clutch Bags and Leather purses are warrantied for life and I thank all our clients for their support in purchasing high quality handbags made by hand here in New York City. Made in USA is important to me. God Bless America and all those that support her.
