For centuries, men have been the hunters and women have been the gatherers. Back in the day, it was the man’s job to search far and wide for his family’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while it was the woman’s job to turn her husband’s captured game into something edible. Sometimes, however, the woman strayed from her gathering post to hunt smaller animals in her vicinity.

As time progresses, there has been a noticeable shift in more and more women leaving their gathering positions to engage in the excitement of the hunt. And as time progresses, these daring women are moving further and further outside of their comfort zones to win the biggest game. Back then, this game came in the form of a wild animal, but now it comes in the form of jobs and opportunities that have been notoriously reserved for men.

Now, just because women have been exploring the hunter’s role doesn’t mean that they’ve completely abandoned their role as the gatherer. On the contrary, women have been trying to incorporate the two! Though she may grab a helping hand, the modern-day woman is someone who participates in the thrill of the hunt–working a professional job–and the tranquility of the gather–collecting meaningful objects that complete a memory, a home, a meal and a family.

Though some women would rather spend more time hunting than gathering, all women enjoy the accessories that come with the gather–specifically the gathering pouches that we now refer to as the handbag.
