How great is this image?  What a fantastic still life.  This is the second image in a series that Clutch Bags New York is doing in collaboration with talented professional photographers in NYC. I have asked colleagues of mine in the photography world, to shoot any handbag of their choice from the  designer ClutchBags.com collection, any way they would like, in keeping with their own creative style.  

We are getting really positive responses to this project and I am very excited about the beautiful images that will be spawned from this creative endeavor. What a fantastic artistic community we have here in the big apple!

So, the second photographer I invited to participate was Shana Novak.  Shana and I are both represented by the same agency, Judycasey.com here in NYC. We finally met at a seminar on social media that was sponsored by Judy.  A very apropos setting, I might add.

I thought Shana would be great for this project. Shana’s still life work is so fresh and alive.  It has a definite feminine touch to it, with a new view towards composition.  I think I really appreciate Shana’s work because she does not hold back from using other elements (props) aside the hero product.  She shows confidence in composition.  I admire that in an artist.

So Shana chose the classic clutch bag from my designer handbag collection, the Envelope Bag in black patent leather. When I asked Shana what she thought about the bags after shooting them, she said that she loved the bags for what they are not, overdone.  She said “hardware can be so tacky and overstyled.  Clutch Bags don’t need embellishment to be special–they are buttery and clean and modern all at once, simply for their craftsmanship and choice of materials.”
