New York City Style: #1

New York City Style

New York City Style

New York City Style has to be one of the most sought after styles of  fashion  in the world.  And yet, no one even thinks of NYC in these “branding” terms.  As a New York City Stylist for 20 years and a handbag designer for 15 years, I can conclusively say that the fashion street inspiration you see in NYC  is definitely a sought after style of fashion around the globe.

I have always stated that I have found the inspirations for the designs of the Clutch Bags NY handbag collection on the streets of New York City.  I have never doubted this inspirational flow for one minute.  I think it could be attributed to the shear amount of people that live and roam the city here everyday.  That, and also, there is a certain sense of daring that exists in the water and the air of New York City.  It is a certain daring that gives you a bit of a lift every now and again, (and sometimes more often than not) to just go ahead, wear it out, try it out, give it a shot, go ahead and do it!  These are the motivational inspirations that live inside our heads when one lives in NYC; the inner voices that  tell you to dare a little , to live a little bit more.  These are the voices that say “just because no one else is doing it doesn’t mean you can’t. It means that there is more of a clear runway for you to try it”.

I truly believe that the main reason a New Yorker feels inspired to dare and live outside the box, is because there are no boundaries in New York City when it comes to testing the temperature of the water, so to speak.  A more simple way to say this is that no one will criticize you for trying something new, for wearing something different, for stating your opinion.  New Yorkers are tolerant, for the most part.  And so is their tolerance for fashion and for trends.

I love New York City and I love that Clutch Bags NY is a part of the New York City Style that exists within its avenues and boroughs.  After all, this is the place where all my inspiration is found to design cool leather handbags and purses.

Part #1: New York City Style

New York City Style pictured  above wears an urban black look for getting around the city.  I love how she mixes the 40’s style stetson hat with the fur trimmed black coat and makes it work.  Pairing it with tricked out combat boots makes the look…but only (note) because the boots are a bit scuffed and worn does this work. The handbag takes the “messenger stance” in silhouette, and her jewelry is simple-leaving it up to what is visible with so much clothing on: the ring.  Add a great framed glass that makes a statement and Voila!  New York City Style is born again!

See you next week for #2 😉
