New York City Style: #4

New York City Street Style #4

                   New York City Style

New York City Style has to be one of the most sought after styles of  fashion  in the world.  And yet, no one even thinks of NYC in these “branding” terms.  As a New York City Stylist for 20 years and a handbag designer for 15 years, I can conclusively say that the fashion street inspiration you see in NYC  is definitely a sought after style of fashion around the globe.

I have always stated that I have found the inspirations for the designs of the Clutch Bags NY handbag collection on the streets of New York City.  I have never doubted this inspirational flow for one minute.  I think it could be attributed to the shear amount of people that live and roam the city here everyday.  That, and also, there is a certain sense of daring that exists in the water and the air of New York City.  It is a certain daring that gives you a bit of a lift every now and again, (and sometimes more often than not) to just go ahead, wear it out, try it out, give it a shot, go ahead and do it!  These are the motivational inspirations that live inside our heads when one lives in NYC; the inner voices that  tell you to dare a little , to live a little bit more.  These are the voices that say “just because no one else is doing it doesn’t mean you can’t. It means that there is more of a clear runway for you to try it”.

I truly believe that the main reason a New Yorker feels inspired to dare and live outside the box, is because there are no boundaries in New York City when it comes to testing the temperature of the water, so to speak.  A more simple way to say this is that no one will criticize you for trying something new, for wearing something different, for stating your opinion.  New Yorkers are tolerant, for the most part.  And so is their tolerance for fashion and for trends.

I love New York City and I love that Clutch Bags NY is a part of the New York City Style that exists within its avenues and boroughs.  After all, this is the place where all my inspiration is found to design cool leather handbags and purses.

Part #4: New York City Style

New York City Style pictured  above wears probably one of the more funkier looks that I have seen in awhile, and I must say, I adore it! This woman has inspiration exuding from her person.  Firstly, you just cannot miss the eye wear that is sitting on her head.  Wow!  That goggle eyewear says, “I am a woman who thinks outside the box”. She is playing nothing safe, but she is still dressed functionally enough that she can get around town comfortably to accomplish her day.  Think about it. She has a cute knit hat on her head to stay warm in these cold winter months.  She is layered in a leopard fake fur shawl over a textural knit something that looks warm.  She layers up underneath with lots of fun color and pattern that you can actually see!  This has to be one of the most difficult things to do in the winter months; being able to see your cute outfit when you are bundled up.  This woman has on a really cute outfit, and you can see the color and how it fits.  She has the layers and they work.  She does the black opaque tights, the skirt over those, the two layers of outerwear, the fingerless gloves, the hat and Voila! She layered herself into something all of her own making. This woman is unique in her look and she knows how to get there. And lets not overlook those awesome purple suede booties.  Her color sense is spectacular!  The Clutch NY Team would suggest the Scout Bag from Clutch NY, as this would be a handbag that would be easy to carry over the shoulder, with a silhouette soft enough to complement her style .  This woman has it together.  She knows how to work color, she is not afraid to put it all together,  and she works her look!  We should all take a lesson from this week’s New York City Style #4.  Don’t be afraid to get creative with color! And look cute getting there.   New York City Style is born again!

Enjoy your week!  Get out on the Street!

Big kisses-
