DESIGNER HANDBAGS NAMES

Designer handbags  names are very interesting.  Have you ever wondered where the names for leather handbags and purses come from?  It seems that most names originate from utilitarian bags that have been used by peoples throughout the ages.  Clutch NY has always used utilitarian names for our handbags and leather purses.   The Lunch Bags, pictured above, is the perfect example of a designer handbag name taken from a utilitarian bag.  Have you thought about the Lunch part of  that handbag?             Well, why don’t you take a look at the inspiration picture here and tell me what  you see.  That looks like a brown paper bag for your lunch.  Well then,  there you have the inspiration. When I was designing this bag, I was thinking about the size of a Lunch Bag, and the ease and softness of the body of the bag. I was imagining packing a sandwich in a bag, and how it would slide in.  Then I thought about this leather clutch, and thought, “I want this bag to have that same ease when putting any personal effect into the bag.  To top it off, i want the top of the bag to fold down like a brown paper lunch bag. Let’s review another  style of designer handbag names from the Clutch NY collection and see what they mean, because they each have a utilitarian name for real.

Okay. Let’s try and see how many handbags from the  collection we can list this time.  Remember, we did this a couple of weeks ago, so we want to make sure you are paying attention and remembering the handbags we discussed. So, we have already mentioned the Mail bag in our last blog about designer handbag names.  I believe we had titled the blog “Handbags Styles Names” if you would like to look it up in our blog posts (hint-hint).  We also looked at the Saddle Bag and talked about how the shape and design is based on the utilitarian bags that sit on the hind quarters of a horse.

Should we try another?

How about the Lingerie Bag from Clutch NY?  This is a gorgeous calf suede leather satchel that possesses an amazing drape. When I was designing it I was considering the sexiness of a female.  And what could be more sexy for any female then sexy lingerie?  And what is the lightest bag you could possibly carry? How about a lingerie bag, because when they are empty, they are so light and flat.  But even when they fill up, they are still light.  I guess the other upside would be that when you do fill up this style of leather handbag, the shape just gets more feminine and the silhouette is very nice, very round and full bottomed. Love it!  Hence, my  objective of designing a collection of handbags-to design a collection of classic handbags that last through the ages.  Handbags with staying power. Bags that have proven themselves in the utilitarian arena.

I could go on with quite a few other styles for all of you, but I think I might save those for another upcoming blog.  It is really a lot of fun to find images of the original bags and pair them up. I am looking forward to writing another one of these for you!
