Clutch Bags Fall Out

It's getting cold outside!

It’s getting cold outside on the Battery near 1 World Trade

As a native New Yorker, I have experienced my fair share of seasons in this fantastic city of ours.  Admittedly,  I do resist change, especially when out of nowhere, the blistering heat is over ridden by insufferably gelid conditions.  However, the game changer for this temperature change are  the  many  activities that are available in the city during the seasons where I don’t necessarily want to be out and about!  Although it is becoming colder, that never stops a true New Yorker from seeking an adventure. I also find that being a  New Yorker comes with its share of  responsibilities, one of which is to show those living in small towns that there is more to do in our city during the cold season than just going to the movies.  Not to worry my fellow homebodies, I’ve got just the activities that will get you outside; even when it feels like it is too cold for comfort.

 Go to a cooking class

Screen Shot 2013-11-09 at 10.29.29 AMWe can all eat, but let’s be honest, not many of us can cook in a city where Cantonese and Mexican are readily available by just clicking on Seamless.  There are a number of great cooking classes around the city to make those nights at home a little more interesting.  Instead of trying to learn from a cookbook, why not take up a class or two this season and experience something new?  Maybe learn how to cut tomatoes perfectly with a chefs knife, or even learn how to make homemade pasta if you’re feeling like Giada at home.

The site below is one of many available cooking classes in New York City.

  Freedom Tunnel

Freedom Tunnel

Feeling a little more adventurous?  Why not head uptown to explore a mecca of street art.  The Freedom tunnel was first housed to thousands of homeless people living in makeshift houses.  About 25 years ago, they were forcibly removed to relocate and a new sanctuary for graffiti enthusiasts were born.

Check out this video on how to navigate the tunnel:

Jumping for Exercise

I know we have all been told this tale before, but now is truly the time to start moving your body! We definitely find ourselves not walking around the city  as much as we would in warmer conditions, so we have to make sure our bodies are still getting the exercise they deserve.  Cold weather is the perfect time to make excuses for staying in, but it should not restrict you from being healthy.  Exercising does not have to be you dragging yourself to a gym just to blankly stare at equipment you are not sure how to operate.  I’m not talking about joining a Pilates class or spinning until you can generate enough energy for your electric bill. I am talking about something with a bit more spunk to it!  How about  jumping around on a trampoline!   I know this is one of Laura Dotolo’s  most favorite relaxing activities to do.  Check out this new workout establishment that will definitely get you excited about  working out again.

Cross Body Travel Bag

So, what sort of handbag might a woman carry around this cosmopolitan town of ours during these cold seasonal changes in temperature and habits?  I would like to suggest the Travel Bag from our Clutch Bags NY collection of bags.  Why this style of hand bag you may ask?  Well, for starters, it has a great adjustable strap that will fit perfectly over your winter coats and layers. It also fits as a cross body bag, which helps to keep your hands free so you are able to carry your bags of food after being inspired by those cooking classes.  The travel bag  is made from a fantastic cowhide leather that is soft and supple and molds to the fit of your body.  And, to top it all off, when you put your little mitts inside of the leather hand bag to locate your keys, it is lined in a suede that is warming to the touch! Wow. What a way to accessorize, look good and get around during these cold months!
