Clutch Bags Review: The Pencil Bag

Denim_lg

There are many things that I feel I cannot live without: my cell phone, my IPod, and my denim Pencil Bag from Clutch Bags NY.I like to think of this little cutie as an inverted mullet–party on the outside, business on the inside. Like I mentioned before, the bag is denim (party on the outside). This is the kind of denim that you usually see in the form of great quality jeans like Lucky Brand or True Religion. Another aesthetically pleasing element of this little hand bag is how its beautiful blue denim is contrasted with its leathery, deep brown lining. This leathery, deep brown color is also used on the inside of the bag (business on the inside). The Pencil Bag’s smooth, leather pockets make it easy to slide cards and cash in and out without a fuss.

While most people enjoy the freedom of space that a larger bag grants, I like that the Pencil Bag is small like a wallet. This feature forces me to prioritize my daily essentials whenever I decide to take this Clutch NY bag out on the town. If it were any larger, I would find myself trying to squeeze in my hairbrush, my water bottle, and maybe even my perfume bottle just to go pick something up from the store.

But please don’t get me wrong, I am not saying there is not a time and a place for a large bag.  After all,  I am a huge fan of Clutch Bags NY my favorites being the leather Mail Bag and the suede Lingerie Bag.  All I am saying is this: sometimes it’s nice not feeling the pressure of filling your bag with random knick-knacks in fear of it looking empty.

I found myself in two situations this week where I thought the Pencil Bag to be the ideal companion: 1) going to  Gourmet Garage to pick up some breakfast; and 2) going dancing with my friends.

It holds my essentials!

In the first situation, I had woken up with a hunger that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. In the hopes of finding some kind of grand breakfast food in my fridge, I was letdown when all I found was butter, expired mayonnaise, orange juice, and soy milk. After throwing a mini temper tantrum at myself for not having shopped for groceries earlier in the week, I realized it was just the hunger talking. I had a glass of soy milk, which calmed my stomach growling, and then I decided to go out and buy some pancake mix. Without even thinking about it, I grabbed the Pencil Bag. And without hesitation, I grabbed the three items (money, IPod, and cell phone) that I knew would 1) fit in the bag; and 2) be necessary for my outing. Needless to say, the pancake mix was purchased without any glitches.

In the second situation, I was going out for the night with a group of girl friends. We hadn’t had a girl’s night in a while, so they were very adamant on going out dancing–something I love to do. But it’s not something I love to do with a heavy bag on my shoulder. After a few minutes of deliberation, I decided that the Pencil Bag would do. My initial hesitation on taking the little bag out for the night was caused by my thought that it might be too casual. However, I soon realized that when the bag is paired with the right outfit, there isn’t one place that it can’t go. Like the first situation, this one went on without a hitch. I danced the night away with my best friends, while the Pencil Bag hung effortless around my wrist.
