A Show of Hands for the Lunch Bag

I use my hands a lot.  If I’m telling a story, I like to use my hands to describe the height of the heels I just purchased off Gilt.com.  If I’m dancing and start to feel a bit tired, I move my hands to the beat of the music to create the impression that I’m still dancing with high energy. And if someone asks me a difficult question, I rub my chin or scratch my head because it usually distracts the questioner and buys me more time to think. Needless to say, I’m pretty hands-on.

The other day I had the misfortune of taking the NYC subway during rush hour. Usually I make a point of avoiding traveling around New York City between 4 and 6PM, but this time there was no

getting around it.  Not surprisingly, I didn’t get a seat and found myself sardined between a businessman and a schoolgirl, holding onto the metal bar above me. Though one hand had the job of keeping my balance as the subway swished and swooshed, the other hand hung awkwardly by my side. Not sure what to do with it, I turned to my neighbors to get some silent advice. The businessman: one hand on the metal bar, the other holding his briefcase. The schoolgirl: one hand keeping her balanced, the other holding a book. Well, I had no briefcase and no book, so I just held the strap of my purse. And it didn’t feel great.

Anyways, if you’re anything like me, the Clutch Bags NY Lunch bag is probably what you need!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been testing out the silver foldover clutch. I’ve taken this little gem around with me on journeys near and far because this bag’s use is extremely flexible.

Lunch bag on a night out

One night, I had dinner plans with a friend and decided it would be the perfect setting for the lunch bag. I got all dolled up, put on my silver jewelry—to match the bag’s silver leather—and I was ready to go. Before heading out, I snapped the bag open to make sure I had everything I needed. Phone: check. IPod: check. Wallet: check. Makeup incase a touch up is needed: check.  Then I snapped it shut and folded it over.

Though the Slow Roasted Pork Carnitas at Maya were delicious, the most memorable part of my night was the subway ride there. Although it wasn’t rush hour, the subway car was full and I was forced to stand. This time, however, I didn’t feel awkward. One hand was keeping my balance while the other comfortably clutched my foldover lunch bag to my side. And it felt just right.

Another adventure where the lunch bag played my trusted sidekick was on my trip to Montreal. This time I used the foldover clutch as an intermediary bag.  In it I stored my makeup: eyeliners and eye shadows, foundation, lipsticks and lip-glosses, mascaras, and nail polishes. It’s ability to snap open in a flash made it quick and easy for me to find exactly what I was looking for.  And when traveling, the lunch bag easily converts from make-up bag or jewelry bag to dinner and dancing clutch.
