Fall into October with Clutch Bags

Congratulations! You’ve almost made it through the first month of your return to reality.  Yes, those afternoons of lounging on a beach chair with sand between your toes seem long gone, but turn that frown upside down! The month of October is jam packed with autumn activities that will make you feel like the sun shines on you, even in the fog of fall.

Here are four events that we at Clutch Bags NY suggest you should not miss if you’re in New York City in October:

1. To start off the month without dipping too deep into your wallet, make sure to check out Cara Lynch‘s House Work, on Tuesday October 1st. This art exhibition is taking place at the Poe Visitors Center from 9am to 5pm. The artist was inspired by  historic homes in NYC. She explores the idea of the home and feminine identity. And another plus: it’s FREE!

This is an interview festival where staff writers and editors from the New Yorker interview a number of influential people and you have the opportunity to watch it happen! Tickets sell fast, so make sure to get ’em quickly!

ny43. Maybe an interview festival is not your thing? Don’t worry from Saturday, October 12th to Sunday, the 13th, there will always be the Open House Festival. This is an annual festival that allows you to see over 150 of the city’s most exclusive architectural sites, landmarks, and privates homes. You also get behind-the-scenes tours! This year, there will be a sneak peek of the World Trade Center before it is officially open to the public. And the icing on top of the cake? This event is FREE!

For an exciting evening, make sure to check out Oktoberfest at Studio Square. On Sunday, October 20th follow Andrew Zimmern as he walks around and tastes a variety of beer and sausage (including his own line of links)!
